স্বল্প মেয়াদে করণীয়র মধ্যে সরকার জ্বালানি সাশ্রয়ে যেসব উদ্যোগ নিয়েছে, সেগুলো আরও পরিকল্পিত ও জোরদারভাবে করতে হবে। সরকারি গাড়ি ব্যবহারে ২০ শতাংশ সাশ্রয়ের কথা বলা হয়েছে। এ ক্ষেত্রে অন্তত ৫০ শতাংশ সাশ্রয়ী হওয়ার সুযোগ আছে। দীর্ঘমেয়াদি করণীয় হচ্ছে জ্বালানিনীতির পরিবর্তন। আমাদের জ্বালানিনীতি সাধারণত বিদেশিরা এসে করে দেয়। দেশি বিশেষজ্ঞদের মোটেই যুক্ত করা হয় না। রাজনৈতিক দল কিংবা গোষ্ঠীস্বার্থ নয়; দেশের ও মানুষের স্বার্থে যেটা ভালো হবে, সেটাই করতে হবে।
